Dear Parents and Members of our St. George Community,

On behalf of Father Nektarios and the Catechism staff, we would like to thank you for your support in providing an Orthodox Christian foundation of faith and values to our children. We are very proud of our Catechism program, and our volunteer staff. We want to express our deep gratitude to all our staff members for their efforts, dedication and perseverance.

Another School year is almost completed and we thank all the parents for bringing their children to participate the Catechism Classes every Sunday at our St. George Greek Orthodox Church, Piscataway. In September, we shall begin a new year and again we invite all children to join our Catechism classes.

The young people will engage in fun activities, learn about our faith, and grow together in the community. This is a great opportunity for the young ones to deepen their relationship with God and each other.

Our curriculum, that has been developed by the Department of Religious Education of the Orthodox Archdiocese of America, covers many topics about the Orthodox Faith, such as the Holy Sacraments, the significance of making the sign of the cross, venerating the icons, explaining the Gospel and parts of the Bible, talking about the Saints of the week and the different Holidays our church celebrates during the year, and more.   The set curriculum, the liturgical hymnology, the participation in the Divine Liturgy and the many projects carried out throughout the year provide a complete picture of our Catechism Program.  

We know that we live in a secular society and our church serves as one of the few places to gain knowledge of our Savior Jesus Christ and our Christian faith. Thus, we encourage all parents to bring their children to church each Sunday, participating to the Divine Liturgy and the Catechism Program.

Classes take place on Sundays, after Holy Communion, until the conclusion of Divine Liturgy.

Classes begin September 9, 2025 until June 7,2026.

Our mission is to nurture the gifts of the Holy Spirit within each child through worship and education.

Purpose
The purpose of our Sunday School program is to teach children the fullness of Orthodox Christian life, while fostering fellowship with their peers and the parish family.

Goal
The goal of our Sunday School program is to cultivate in every child a deep love for our Lord, God, and Savior Jesus Christ, and to develop a lifelong personal connection with St. George Greek Orthodox Church. Through worship, studying the Holy Scriptures, practicing the Holy Commandments, and honoring the Church’s Holy Traditions, students will grow in their faith and devotion.

The Sunday School Program is offered at NO charge. However, donations are appreciated to help cover expenses such as reading materials for the children. Thank you.
